drink more gamay

“We should all be so lucky to share Wine with the ones we love”

If you’ve never heard of Gamay before don’t worry, you my friend are not alone. A variety that I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for, this jewel from Beaujolais is often very fresh on the first pass and as it takes a moment to breathe those delicious flavors of blueberry, dark cherry and blackcurrant irradiate from the glass; like freshly muddled fruits that have been picked just before they’re fully ripe. This traditionally jammy and food friendly wine is one of my favorites to have on hand just in case we find ourselves hosting a gathering of friends or family.

It just so happens that on a stroll over to our local wine shop last night my wife found a bottle of Gamay that was produced in Switzerland. How could we pass that up?

“That is kind of a unicorn wine… it’s near impossible to find any Swiss wine here in the states! It rarely leaves the country so that fact we were able to bring in a couple of bottles is excellent; you’ll love it!” - Liz via Geneva Wine Cellars (Wine Buyer and Certified Sommelier)

Needless to say this 100% Gamay from CAVE DE LA CÔTE in Switzerland had a perfectly balanced profile of dark black fruits on the pallet with subtle tannins to help round out this truly unique bottle of wine.

Recommendation: Search out any Gamay you can find and try it out… you won’t regret it! Not only is it delicious, but it’s often one of the more economical choices you can make while perusing your local wine shop; in my experience you’ll basically never spend over $25.00, but more often then not you can find excellent Gamay for under $15.00 🤯. Make sure to support your local shops if possible!

Repeat customer sighting… sitting and sipping on the patio of Geneva Wine Cellars with my wife!
